ESP32-C5 in ESP32 Family
The ESP32-C5 is Espressif Systems' first dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 (LE) MCU family, designed for high-performance wireless connectivity. Based on a single-core 32-bit RISC-V architecture, it operates in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This family is primarily used for IoT applications requiring the congestion-avoidance benefits of 5 GHz spectrum and the efficiency of 802.11ax, while maintaining compatibility with legacy wireless standards and Matter-over-Wi-Fi ecosystems.

Variants within the ESP32-C5 sub-family primarily differ in their integrated memory configurations and antenna designs. Options include modules with 4MB, 8MB, or 16MB of on-board SPI flash, as well as variants featuring 8MB of additional PSRAM (R8 suffix) for memory-intensive applications. Physical form factors differ between standard PCB trace antennas (WROOM-1) and U.FL connectors (WROOM-1U) for external antenna attachment, alongside dedicated development kits for rapid prototyping.
