LM2596SX in LM2596 / LM2576 Switching Regulator Family
The LM2596SX series is a family of monolithic step-down (buck) switching regulators manufactured primarily by Texas Instruments and various second-source providers. Designed for high-efficiency power management, these integrated circuits provide all active functions for driving a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation. Operating at a fixed switching frequency of 150 kHz, the LM2596SX allows for smaller filter components than lower-frequency regulators, making it a staple in industrial and consumer power supply designs.
The LM2596SX sub-family variants are primarily distinguished by their output voltage ratings and packaging. They are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5.0V, and 12V, as well as an adjustable version (ADJ) that allows for output ranges between 1.2V and 37V. The 'SX' suffix specifically denotes the TO-263 (D2PAK) surface-mount package, which provides a smaller footprint compared to through-hole TO-220 variants.
