LM2596T in LM2596 / LM2576 Switching Regulator Family
The LM2596T family, manufactured by Texas Instruments, is a series of monolithic integrated circuits that provide all the active functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator. Capable of driving a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation, these TO-220 packaged devices are widely utilized for efficient DC-DC conversion. They operate at a fixed frequency of 150 kHz, allowing for smaller filter components than lower-frequency regulators while maintaining high efficiency in power management systems.
Variants in This Sub-Family
| Part Number | Difference | Stock |
|---|---|---|
| LM2596T-ADJ/LF02 (Texas Instruments) | LF02 | 479 |
| LM2596T-12/NOPB (Texas Instruments) | 12/NOPB | 369 |
Variants within the LM2596T sub-family are distinguished primarily by their output voltage configurations and lead forming. The LM2596T-ADJ offers an adjustable output range from 1.2V to 37V via an external resistor divider, whereas the -5.0, -12, and -3.3 versions provide fixed regulated outputs. Lead options include straight leads (NOPB) or formed leads (LF02) for different mounting orientations on the PCB.
