LM339N in LMx39/2901 Comparators Family
The LM339N is a member of the industry-standard LMx39/2901 family, consisting of four independent voltage comparators designed to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Originally pioneered by National Semiconductor and now produced by Texas Instruments and others, these devices feature a common-mode input voltage range that includes ground. They are primarily used for level detection, low-level sensing, and analog-to-digital conversion in industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics where precision and reliability are critical.
Variants in This Sub-Family
Comparing specs that differ across variants.
| Part Number | Temp Range | Current - Output (Typ) | Voltage - Input Offset (Max) | Voltage - Supply, Single/Dual (+/-) | Stock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LM339N (Texas Instruments) | 0degC ~ 70degC | 20mA | 5mV | 2V | 31,301 |
| LM339N/NOPB (Texas Instruments) | -25degC ~ 85degC | 16mA | 5mV | 2V | 18,468 |
Variants within the LM339 sub-family primarily differ by package type and temperature qualification. The 'N' suffix specifically denotes the 14-pin Plastic Dual In-Line Package (PDIP), which is preferred for through-hole assembly and prototyping. Other variants like the LM339D use SOIC packaging for surface-mount applications. Additionally, automotive-grade versions (LM339-Q1) offer AEC-Q100 qualification and extended operating temperature ranges compared to standard commercial or industrial grades.
