LIS3DH in ST LSM / LIS IMU & Accelerometers Family
The LIS3DH by STMicroelectronics is an ultra-low-power high-performance three-axis linear accelerometer belonging to the 'femto' family. It utilizes micromachined silicon sensors to provide digital output over I2C and SPI interfaces. Engineers select this family for its extremely low current consumption, which can drop to 2 microamps in power-down modes, and its flexible embedded features like motion detection and click/double-click recognition, making it a staple in mobile and battery-constrained industrial electronics.
The LIS3DH family typically offers consistency in its core MEMS structure but varies across specific package certifications and operating temperature ranges. While the standard LIS3DH is the most common, automotive-grade versions (prefixed with AIS) are available for non-safety applications like vehicle tracking and telematics, offering AEC-Q100 qualification and more rigorous testing profiles compared to the standard consumer-grade components.
