MAX30101 in MAX30100 / MAX30102 Pulse Oximetry Family

The MAX30101 by Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) is a high-sensitivity pulse oximetry and heart-rate sensor module. It integrates internal LEDs, photodetectors, optical elements, and low-noise electronics with ambient light rejection. This integrated optical solution simplifies the design-in process for mobile and wearable devices by providing a complete system-in-package that communicates over a standard I2C interface, operating on a 1.8V main supply and a separate 5.0V LED supply.

Variants in this sub-family, such as the MAX30101EFD+T, typically differ by packaging options and tape-and-reel quantities. While the core silicon architecture remains consistent across the MAX3010x family, the MAX30101 specifically adds a green LED compared to the Red/IR-only MAX30102. This provides improved heart rate tracking during physical activity. Some variants may also specify different operating temperature ranges or qualified certifications for specific industrial or consumer segments.
