MSP430FR2422 in MSP430 Family
The MSP430FR2422 is a series of ultra-low-power microcontrollers manufactured by Texas Instruments, belonging to the MSP430 Value Line Sensing family. These 16-bit RISC-based MCUs integrate Ferroelectric Random Access Memory (FRAM), a non-volatile memory technology that combines the speed and endurance of RAM with the non-volatility of Flash. They are engineered for low-cost sensing and measurement applications requiring minimal power consumption and robust data retention during power loss events.
Variants within the MSP430FR2422 sub-family primarily differ based on their integrated memory density and package configurations. While all members share the same 16-bit core and core peripheral set, options range from 4KB to 8KB of FRAM. Packaging variants include TSSOP-16 and VQFN-20, allowing engineers to balance board space constraints against the number of available GPIO pins and analog input channels.
