SN65HVD230D in TI SN65HVD CAN / RS-485 Family
The SN65HVD230D family by Texas Instruments consists of 3.3V CAN transceivers designed for high-speed industrial and automotive communication. These devices bridge the controller area network (CAN) protocol controller and the physical differential bus. Operating from a 3.3V supply instead of the traditional 5V, they enable direct interfacing with modern microcontrollers and FPGAs without level shifters. They are widely utilized for their robust electromagnetic compatibility and high input impedance, allowing up to 120 nodes on a single bus.
Variants in This Sub-Family
The SN65HVD23x series differs primarily in operational modes and current consumption. The SN65HVD230 includes a high-speed mode, a slope-control mode for EMI reduction, and a low-power standby mode. The SN65HVD231 variant adds an ultra-low-power sleep mode for further energy savings, while the SN65HVD232 is a streamlined version focusing purely on high-speed transmission without the additional standby or sleep states.
