The VL53L0CX family from STMicroelectronics represents the first generation of FlightSense Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology, providing high-performance proximity and ranging capabilities. Unlike traditional infrared sensors that rely on signal strength, the VL53L0CX measures the absolute distance by timing the travel of photons from an internal 940nm VCSEL source. This ensures accurate distance measurement regardless of target reflectance, color, or ambient lighting conditions, all within a compact 4.4 x 2.4 x 1.0mm module.
