Overview

The SparkFun GPS-RTK2 is a high-precision GNSS evaluation board based on the u-blox ZED-F9P module. It is capable of 10mm-level positional accuracy when used with a Real Time Kinematics (RTK) correction source. The board supports concurrent reception of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou constellations to maximize signal availability.

Why Choose This Part

The board features a Qwiic connector for solderless I2C integration and a USB-C interface for direct PC connectivity. It includes an onboard rechargeable battery to maintain RTC and GNSS orbit data, significantly reducing Time To First Fix (TTFF) for subsequent power cycles. Comprehensive breakout pins provide access to dual UARTs, SPI, and I2C interfaces for flexible system integration.

Applications

Autonomous Robotic Navigation
High-precision positioning for outdoor rovers and agricultural robots requiring centimeter-level accuracy.
RTK Base Station
Utilizing the survey-in mode to establish a fixed reference point for broadcasting RTCM correction data to rover units.
Precision Drone Mapping
Geofencing and high-update rate GNSS data for aerial surveying and automated flight paths.

Getting Started

Connect the board to a PC via USB-C and use u-blox u-center software for configuration and real-time visualization. For microcontroller integration, the SparkFun u-blox GNSS Arduino Library provides high-level functions for I2C communication. Ensure an active GNSS antenna with a clear view of the sky is connected via the SMA interface for optimal performance.
