Overview

The SparkFun SEN-15335 is a 9-Degrees-of-Freedom (9DoF) inertial measurement unit breakout board based on the TDK InvenSense ICM-20948. It integrates a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope, and a 3-axis magnetometer into a single low-power package. The board features dual Qwiic connectors for solderless I2C integration and supports a wide supply voltage range from 1.95V to 3.6V.

Why Choose This Part

This breakout excels due to its integrated Digital Motion Processor (DMP) which offloads complex sensor fusion algorithms from the host MCU. The inclusion of two Qwiic ports allows for easy daisy-chaining in I2C systems without soldering, while the support for both I2C and SPI interfaces provides maximum hardware flexibility.

Applications

Robotic Stabilization
Utilizing the on-board Digital Motion Processor (DMP) to handle complex sensor fusion calculations for balancing and orientation.
Gesture Recognition
Implementing touchless control interfaces in consumer electronics using high-resolution motion data.
Inertial Navigation Systems
Dead reckoning for small autonomous vehicles or drones by combining gyro, accel, and mag data.
Wearable Motion Tracking
Monitoring body mechanics or activity levels in low-power battery-operated devices.
