MS5540-CM Pressure Sensor
Overview
The MS5540-CM is a high-resolution, miniature absolute pressure sensor module that combines a piezoresistive silicon pressure sensor with a 16-bit Sigma-Delta ADC. It provides temperature-compensated pressure data over a range of 10 to 1100 mbar via a 3-wire serial interface. The device features an ultra-low standby current of 0.1 uA, making it suitable for battery-powered environmental monitoring.
Why Choose This Part
The sensor integrates six calibration coefficients directly into its internal EEPROM, allowing software-based compensation for high accuracy of +/-0.15kPa. Its wide supply voltage range of 2.2V to 3.6V and low current consumption of 1mA during conversion ensure compatibility with 3V lithium coin cells.

Getting Started
To interface with the MS5540-CM, implement a 3-wire synchronous serial protocol to read the 6 calibration coefficients from the EEPROM. These coefficients must be used in your MCU firmware to process the raw 16-bit D1 (pressure) and D2 (temperature) digital outputs. Ensure the sensor is protected from direct light to prevent offsets in the piezoresistive element.
