Overview

The Adafruit HUZZAH32 is a versatile development board featuring the ESP32 dual-core Tensilica LX6 SoC running at up to 240MHz. It integrates Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth (Classic and LE) into the compact Feather form factor, designed for rapid IoT prototyping. The board includes a built-in Li-Polymer battery charger and an automatic bootloader reset circuit for seamless USB programming.

Why Choose This Part

The HUZZAH32 simplifies power management with a dedicated 3.3V regulator and automatic switching between USB and battery power. Its Feather footprint provides access to 25 GPIO pins, including 12 ADC channels and 2 DACs, while maintaining compatibility with the vast ecosystem of FeatherWing expansion boards.

Applications

Battery-Powered IoT Sensors
Utilizing the integrated Li-Po charger and ultra-low power capabilities for remote environmental monitoring.
Wireless Audio Streaming
Leveraging the dual-core processor and I2S audio interface for Bluetooth or Wi-Fi based audio playback.
Smart Home Hubs
Acting as a gateway using simultaneous Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to bridge local sensors to the cloud.
Capacitive Touch Interfaces
Implementing user controls without physical buttons via the 10 built-in capacitive touch channels.

Getting Started

To begin development, install the ESP32 board support package in the Arduino IDE or use the Espressif IoT Development Framework (ESP-IDF) via VS Code. Connect the board via a micro-USB cable to utilize the on-board CP2104 USB-to-UART bridge for programming and serial debugging. For mobile applications, plug in a 3.7V Lithium polymer battery to the integrated JST-PH connector.
