Overview

The ACS712ELCTR-30A-T is a fully integrated, Hall-effect based linear current sensor designed for AC or DC current sensing in industrial, commercial, and communications systems. It provides a ratiometric analog output voltage that varies linearly with the sensed current up to 30A. The device features an internal conductor resistance of 1.2 mOhm and provides 2.1 kVRMS isolation between the primary current path and the low-voltage electronics.

Why Choose This Part

The sensor offers 2.1 kVRMS isolation in a compact SOIC-8 footprint, eliminating the need for bulky opto-isolators. Its low-noise analog signal path and 80kHz bandwidth make it suitable for fast-acting safety circuits, while the factory-trimmed 66mV/A sensitivity ensures high accuracy out of the box.

Applications

Motor Control
Monitoring phase currents in variable speed motor drives and fractional horsepower motors.
Switch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
Providing current feedback for regulation and overcurrent protection in high-efficiency power converters.
Solar Inverters
Measuring bidirectional DC current from photovoltaic strings or battery storage systems.
Load Management
Detecting hardware failures or monitoring power consumption in industrial automation equipment.

Getting Started

To integrate this sensor, connect the current path to pins 1/2 and 3/4 and provide a stable 5V DC supply to VCC. The output voltage VOUT will be centered at 2.5V (VCC/2) for zero current; use an ADC-equipped microcontroller like an Arduino or ESP32 to sample the ratiometric signal. For improved noise performance, add a 1nF filter capacitor to the FILTER pin to tune the device bandwidth.
