Overview

The AD8253ARMZ is a digitally programmable instrumentation amplifier (PGIA) that offers gains of 1, 10, 100, and 1000. It features a high slew rate of 20V/us and a 10 MHz bandwidth, making it suitable for high-speed data acquisition systems. The device operates on a wide supply span from 10V to 30V and maintains low input offset voltage of 150 uV.

Why Choose This Part

The AD8253ARMZ combines high-speed performance with the flexibility of digital gain control via a 2-bit parallel interface. Its low input bias current of 5 nA and high slew rate allow for fast settling times and minimal error in high-impedance sensor applications.

Applications

Data Acquisition Systems
Used as a front-end amplifier for ADCs to handle wide dynamic range signals through software-controlled gain.
Industrial Process Control
Provides precise signal conditioning for sensors in environments requiring high common-mode rejection.
Automatic Test Equipment
Ideal for test setups that need to switch between different signal levels rapidly without manual hardware changes.
Medical Instrumentation
Suited for monitoring equipment requiring high input impedance and low bias current for signal integrity.

Getting Started

When designing with the AD8253ARMZ, ensure the gain pins (A0, A1) are driven by clean logic signals to avoid unintended gain switching. Decouple the power supplies with 0.1 uF ceramic capacitors in parallel with 10 uF tantalum capacitors as close to the IC pins as possible to maintain stability at its 10 MHz bandwidth.
