Overview

The ADP5090-1-EVALZ is an evaluation board for the ADP5090 ultra-low power boost regulator, specifically designed for energy harvesting applications. It enables the conversion of small amounts of energy from PV cells or thermoelectric generators to charge batteries or supercapacitors. The board is configured to provide a 3.5V output from a wide input range of 0.38V to 3.3V.

Why Choose This Part

The board features a cold-start voltage as low as 380mV, allowing the system to boot from depleted energy sources. It includes integrated power management functions for battery protection and efficient energy storage in supercapacitors.

Applications

Solar Powered IoT Nodes
Efficiently harvesting energy from small indoor or outdoor photovoltaic cells to power wireless sensor networks.
Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting
Converting heat differentials into electrical power for industrial monitoring equipment.
Wearable Device Charging
Managing energy from body heat or ambient light to extend the battery life of low-power wearables.

Getting Started

Connect a high-impedance power source such as a PV cell to the input terminals and a storage element like a Li-ion battery or supercapacitor to the BAT pin. Monitor the output at the 3.5V terminal and use the onboard jumpers to configure the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) ratio for optimal harvester matching.
