Overview

The ADP5091-1-EVALZ is a dedicated evaluation platform for the ADP5091 ultra-low power energy harvesting PMIC. It enables engineers to test the conversion of DC power from high-impedance sources like photovoltaic cells or thermoelectric generators to charge storage elements including Li-Ion batteries or supercapacitors. The board is designed to demonstrate efficient operation with input voltages as low as 0.38V.

Why Choose This Part

The board features integrated maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to maintain the highest possible efficiency from variable energy sources. It supports a wide operating range and provides an SIDO (single-inductor dual-output) regulator for efficient power distribution to the system and storage.

Applications

Solar Powered IoT Nodes
Harvesting energy from small indoor or outdoor PV cells to power wireless sensor networks.
Wearable Electronics
Managing power from body heat (TEG) or motion-based energy harvesters to extend battery life.
Industrial Monitoring
Providing autonomous power for remote sensors where battery replacement is logistically difficult.

Getting Started

Connect a high-impedance DC source to the VIN terminal and a storage element like a supercapacitor or battery to the BAT terminal. Configure the MPPT ratio and protection thresholds using the onboard jumpers and headers. Monitor the PGOOD and status signals to evaluate the harvester's performance under different lighting or thermal conditions.
