Overview

The AH1388-HK4-7 is a dual-output, unipolar Hall effect switch designed for micropower applications operating between 1.6V and 3.6V. It features two independent outputs that respond to different magnetic poles: Output 1 triggers on a North pole while Output 2 triggers on a South pole, allowing for sophisticated position and proximity sensing in a compact X2-DFN1410-4 package.

Why Choose This Part

The device is highly efficient with an average supply current of 12uA and a sleep current of only 0.36uA, making it ideal for battery-operated devices. Its chopper-stabilized design ensures superior temperature stability and minimal switch-point drift across the -40 to 85 degree Celsius operating range. The dual push-pull outputs eliminate the need for external pull-up resistors, reducing the total bill of materials and PCB footprint.

Applications

Smart Cover Detection
Detecting the opening and closing of tablet or smartphone cases using magnetic polarity to distinguish between states.
Liquid Level Sensing
Monitoring float positions in tanks where dual-pole detection can define high and low limits.
Contactless Limit Switches
Providing wear-free position feedback in industrial actuators or consumer robotics.
Utility Meter Tamper Detection
Identifying external magnetic interference intended to disrupt electronic meter readings.

Getting Started

To integrate this sensor, provide a stable 1.6V to 3.6V supply with a 0.1uF local bypass capacitor. Ensure the magnetic target is oriented such that the flux lines pass through the center of the X2-DFN1410-4 package for optimal +/-2.5mT trip sensitivity. Since the outputs are push-pull, they can be connected directly to high-impedance GPIO pins on a microcontroller without additional components.
