Allegro MicroSystems
Hall Effect Sensor X, Y, Z Axis 10-DFN (3x3)
Active11,608 in stock

Overview

The ALS31300 is a 3D linear Hall effect sensor designed for high-resolution position sensing across the X, Y, and Z axes. It features an integrated 12-bit ADC and I2C interface, allowing for precise tracking of magnetic field changes in a compact 10-DFN package. The device is highly configurable with on-board EEPROM and specialized power management modes for battery-operated applications.

Why Choose This Part

The ALS31300 provides exceptional flexibility with user-programmable sensitivity and I2C address thresholds stored in its 78-byte EEPROM. Its low-power duty cycle mode and ultra-low sleep current of 0.014 uA make it suitable for power-constrained designs. Integrated CRC and a temperature sensor ensure reliable data transmission and thermal compensation for high-precision applications.

Applications

Joystick Controllers
Ideal for 3-axis gaming joysticks or industrial control levers where non-contact sensing prevents mechanical wear.
Rotary and Linear Displacement
Enables high-precision sensing of complex movements, including combined rotation and push-button functions.
Anti-Tamper Systems
Used in smart meters and security systems to detect external magnetic interference from any direction.
HMI Gesture Control
Facilitates 3D spatial tracking for human-machine interfaces without physical contact.

Getting Started

To evaluate this sensor, use the Allegro MicroSystems ASEK-31300 evaluation board which connects to a PC via a daughterboard and USB. Interface the sensor with a microcontroller using the I2C bus (SCL and SDA lines) and configure the 12-bit resolution registers. Ensure the VDD supply remains between 2.65V and 3.5V for stable operation.
