Alpha & Omega Semiconductor Inc.
Buck Switching Regulator IC Positive Adjustable 0.8V 1 Output 1.2A SOT-23-6
Active54 in stock

Overview

The AOZ1282CI is a high-efficiency, simple-to-use buck switching regulator capable of delivering up to 1.2A of continuous output current. It operates over a wide input voltage range from 4.5V to 36V, making it suitable for industrial and automotive-related power bus applications. The device integrates a high-side MOSFET and features internal compensation and soft start to minimize external component count.

Why Choose This Part

The 36V maximum input rating provides significant head-room for surviving transients on 12V and 24V systems. Its SOT23-6L package combined with internal compensation allows for a very compact PCB footprint with minimal external passives. Safety features including cycle-by-cycle current limit and thermal shutdown ensure robust operation under fault conditions.

Applications

Industrial Power Supplies
Provides stable step-down conversion for 24V industrial control rails.
Set-Top Boxes
Efficiently regulates power for consumer media hardware from standard DC adapters.
Telecom Networking
Handles intermediate bus voltage regulation in networking equipment.
Distributed Power Systems
Acts as a localized point-of-load regulator in systems with high-voltage primary rails.

Getting Started

To begin design, select an inductor typically between 10uH and 22uH and ensure the feedback resistor divider is calculated for your target output voltage starting from the 0.8V reference. Use a low-ESR ceramic capacitor for input bypassing located as close as possible to the VIN and GND pins to minimize switching noise. Evaluation can be performed by creating a small breakout PCB following the recommended layout in the datasheet to manage thermal dissipation.
