Overview

The ASE-12.000MHZ-L-C-T is a 12 MHz standard crystal oscillator (XO) from Abracon, designed to provide a stable CMOS clock source for embedded systems. It operates at 3.3V and is housed in a compact 3.20mm x 2.50mm 4-SMD package. This component features an enable/disable function to assist with power management in sensitive designs.

Why Choose This Part

This oscillator offers a balance of small footprint and reliable performance with a frequency stability of +/-50ppm. The 3.3V supply compatibility and CMOS output make it easy to integrate with most modern digital logic families.

Applications

Microcontroller Clocking
Provides a precise 12 MHz external clock source for MCUs that require higher stability than internal RC oscillators.
Communication Interfaces
Acts as a reliable timing reference for USB and serial communication protocols where tight frequency tolerance is necessary.
Industrial Control Systems
Used in PLC and automation hardware that operates across the industrial temperature range of -40C to +85C.

Getting Started

When designing the PCB layout, place this oscillator as close as possible to the target IC's clock input pins to minimize EMI and trace capacitance. Ensure a 0.01uF to 0.1uF bypass capacitor is placed near the VDD pin (Pin 4) to filter power supply noise. Use the tri-state Enable/Disable function on Pin 1 to power down the oscillator during low-power sleep modes.
