Overview

The AST3TQ53-T-20.000MHZ-2-C-T5 is a high-precision Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) from Abracon designed for applications requiring superior frequency stability. It provides a stable 20 MHz LVCMOS output with a low current draw of 6mA maximum across a wide operating temperature range from -40C to 85C. This component is housed in a compact 5.0mm x 3.2mm 4-SMD package, making it suitable for dense PCB layouts.

Why Choose This Part

This TCXO offers an impressive frequency stability of +/-280ppb, bridging the gap between standard crystal oscillators and more expensive oven-controlled oscillators. Its low 3.3V supply voltage and 6mA maximum current consumption make it ideal for battery-powered or thermally constrained designs.

Applications

GNSS and GPS Receivers
Provides the stable reference clock necessary for fast signal acquisition and precise positioning in satellite navigation systems.
Precision Timing in Networking
Acts as a reliable frequency source for synchronization in industrial Ethernet switches and communications infrastructure.
Wireless Base Stations
Maintains frequency accuracy in small cells and base station equipment to ensure reliable data transmission.
Test and Measurement
Serves as a cost-effective local oscillator for portable instrumentation requiring high stability without the power footprint of an OCXO.

Getting Started

When integrating this TCXO, place a 0.01uF to 0.1uF ceramic bypass capacitor as close as possible to the VDD pin (Pin 4) to minimize noise. Ensure the output trace for the 20 MHz LVCMOS signal is kept short and follows controlled impedance guidelines to prevent signal reflections and EMI. Consult the Abracon datasheet for specific solder reflow profiles to avoid damaging the internal crystal resonator during assembly.
