Overview

The AT24C02C is a 2-Kbit (256-byte) serial Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) designed for low-power and low-voltage industrial and commercial applications. It utilizes a standard I2C (2-wire) serial interface and supports a wide operating voltage range from 1.7V to 5.5V. The device features high reliability with an endurance of 1,000,000 write cycles and 100-year data retention.

Why Choose This Part

This EEPROM provides a hardware Write-Protect pin to safeguard the entire memory array against accidental data corruption. It supports an 8-byte page write mode and features a fast self-timed write cycle of maximum 5 ms. Integrated Schmitt triggers and input filters ensure reliable data transfer in electrically noisy environments.

Applications

Configuration Storage
Ideal for storing user preferences, calibration data, and system configuration settings in embedded designs.
Identification and Serialization
Used to store unique serial numbers, MAC addresses, and product revision information.
Low-Power Handhelds
Suited for battery-powered devices due to its ultra-low 6 uA maximum standby current.
Industrial Data Logging
Records status flags or error codes in harsh environments, benefiting from its high noise suppression and ESD protection.

Getting Started

To interface with the AT24C02C, connect the SCL and SDA pins to an I2C host and add 4.7k-10k Ohm pull-up resistors to the bus. Hardware address pins allow up to eight devices on a single bus. For firmware development, standard I2C libraries (such as the Arduino Wire library or Microchip MCC) can be used to perform random and sequential reads.
