MCHPATSHA204A
Overview
The ATSHA204A is a secure authentication IC that utilizes a hardware-based SHA-256 engine to provide symmetric challenge-response functionality. It includes 664 bytes of EEPROM for protected key and data storage, alongside a high-quality hardware random number generator for cryptographic nonce generation. Operating from 2V to 5.5V, it is designed to prevent product counterfeiting and unauthorized accessory use through secure MAC and HMAC operations.
Why Choose This Part
The device offers a cost-effective alternative to asymmetric ECC chips by using symmetric SHA-256 authentication, which requires lower computational overhead from the host MCU. It features an extremely low sleep current of 150nA and supports both I2C and a Single-Wire Interface (SWI) to minimize pin count requirements.
