Overview

The BAT54S is a dual Schottky barrier diode in a series connection, designed for high-speed switching and circuit protection applications. It features a low forward voltage drop and very fast reverse recovery time of 5 ns, making it ideal for clipping and clamping signals in high-density PCB layouts. Housed in a compact SOT-23 or SOT-323 package, it supports a maximum reverse voltage of 30 V and a continuous forward current of 200 mA.

Why Choose This Part

The BAT54S offers a significant reduction in board space by integrating two diodes into a single three-pin package. Its low junction capacitance and 2 uA reverse leakage current at 25 V minimize signal distortion and power loss in precision analog circuits.

Applications

Signal Clamping
Protects sensitive IC inputs by clamping overvoltage transients to the supply rails.
Reverse Polarity Protection
Prevents damage to low-current circuits from accidental battery reversal using its low forward voltage drop.
High-Speed Switching
Utilizes a 5 ns recovery time for efficient operation in high-frequency digital signal paths.
Voltage Doublers
The series configuration allows for compact implementation of voltage multiplier and peak detector circuits.

Getting Started

When integrating this part, ensure the thermal pads follow the SOT-23 or SOT-323 footprint requirements for a maximum junction temperature of 150 degrees Celsius. Use short traces to the signal source to minimize parasitic inductance, which is critical for maximizing the effectiveness of its 5 ns switching speed.
