Overview

The BGM113A256V2 is a fully integrated, pre-certified Bluetooth Low Energy module designed for applications where small size and reliable RF performance are critical. Based on the Silicon Labs Blue Gecko platform, it combines a 38.4 MHz ARM Cortex-M4 core with a high-efficiency chip antenna to simplify wireless development. The module features 256 kB of flash and 32 kB of RAM, providing sufficient resources for both the Bluetooth stack and user application code.

Why Choose This Part

The module's extremely small 9.15 mm x 15.73 mm footprint allows for integration into space-constrained wearables and portable devices. It offers exceptional power efficiency with sleep currents as low as 3.3 uA while maintaining full RAM retention, which is essential for coin-cell operated products. Hardware-level security features and a pre-certified radio stack reduce both BOM complexity and time-to-market for global deployments.

Applications

Smart Home Sensors
Ideal for battery-powered occupancy sensors, thermostats, and door locks requiring long battery life and a small physical footprint.
Health and Fitness Trackers
Utilizes the built-in FPU and hardware accelerators to process sensor data locally before transmitting over BLE.
Industrial IoT Gateways
Serves as a reliable wireless interface for industrial equipment monitoring using its integrated 12-bit ADC and multiple serial interfaces.
HID Peripherals
Supports low-latency connections for wireless mice, keyboards, and remote controls with minimal external circuitry.

Getting Started

To begin development, use the Silicon Labs Wireless Starter Kit (SLWSTK6101C) which includes the necessary debugger and radio boards. Software development is supported through the Simplicity Studio IDE, which provides the Bluetooth SDK, network analyzer tools, and energy profiling utilities to optimize power consumption. The module is programmed via a standard 2-wire Serial Wire Debug (SWD) interface.
