Overview

The BP-BASSENSORSMKII is a sensor BoosterPack plug-in module designed for the Texas Instruments LaunchPad ecosystem. It integrates seven different sensors onto a single board, providing environmental, inertial, and magnetic sensing capabilities through an I2C/SMBus interface. This kit is intended for rapid prototyping of IoT nodes and industrial monitoring systems.

Why Choose This Part

This module offers a diverse sensor suite including the TMP117, which provides higher precision than typical integrated temperature sensors. Its compatibility with the LaunchPad standard allows for immediate integration with TI's SimpleLink MCUs, significantly reducing hardware development time for multi-sensor nodes.

Applications

Environmental Monitoring
Utilizing the HDC2080 and TMP117 for high-accuracy temperature and humidity data in climate-controlled environments.
Motion and Orientation Tracking
Combining the BMI160 IMU and BMM150 magnetometer to develop 9-axis sensor fusion algorithms for robotics or drones.
Industrial Position Sensing
Using the DRV5055-Q1 Hall effect sensor to detect magnetic fields for non-contact position or current sensing applications.
Adaptive Lighting Systems
Implementing the OPT3001 ambient light sensor to adjust display brightness or control indoor lighting based on human eye response.

Getting Started

Plug the BoosterPack into any compatible TI LaunchPad such as the CC26x2R or MSP432P401R. Developers can use Code Composer Studio (CCS) and the TI Resource Explorer to find example projects for the BMI160, OPT3001, and HDC2080 sensors. Ensure the I2C pull-up resistors are configured correctly via the on-board jumpers if multiple BoosterPacks are stacked.
