Overview

The CC2530F256RHAR is a system-on-chip solution for 2.4-GHz IEEE 802.15.4, Zigbee, and RF4CE applications. It combines an industry-leading RF transceiver with an enhanced 8051 MCU, 256kB of in-system programmable flash, and 8kB of RAM to support complex network stacks in a single package. This SoC is designed to reduce BOM costs and simplify firmware development for low-power wireless networks.

Why Choose This Part

It offers excellent receiver sensitivity of -97dBm and high robustness to interference, which is critical for reliable 2.4GHz communication. The device features very low power consumption with a 1uA sleep mode and includes integrated peripherals like a built-in op-amp and comparator to further reduce external component counts.

Applications

Zigbee Home Automation
Ideal for smart light switches, thermostats, and door locks that require mesh networking capabilities and long battery life.
Industrial Control Systems
Utilized in wireless sensor networks for monitoring equipment and factory automation using the 802.15.4 standard.
Consumer Electronics RF4CE
Used in advanced remote controls for televisions and set-top boxes to provide non-line-of-sight operation.

Getting Started

Development typically involves the Z-Stack firmware suite from Texas Instruments and the IAR Embedded Workbench for 8051. For hardware evaluation, the CC2530DK development kit provides a comprehensive platform to test range and power consumption. Flash programming can be handled via the JTAG interface using the TI CC Debugger tool.
