Overview

The DAC80508ZCYZFT is a highly integrated, 8-channel, 16-bit voltage-output Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) with an internal 2.5V reference. It features a compact 2.4mm x 2.4mm DSBGA package and operates over a wide supply range of 2.7V to 5.5V while maintaining low power consumption at 0.6mA per channel.

Why Choose This Part

The R-2R architecture provides excellent linearity with +/-1 LSB INL and DNL performance. Its 16-DSBGA package offers an exceptionally small footprint for high-channel-count designs, and the integrated SPI interface supports daisy-chaining to simplify PCB routing.

Applications

Optical Networking
Precise bias control for Mach-Zehnder modulators and optical amplifiers in high-density telecommunications equipment.
Wireless Infrastructure
Used in base stations for gain and offset control in RF power amplifier stages.
Industrial Automation
High-density analog output modules for PLC and distributed control systems where PCB space is limited.
Data Acquisition Systems
Provides multiple channels of accurate, low-drift voltage generation for sensor calibration and stimulus.

Getting Started

Evaluate the device using the DAC80508EVM evaluation module, which interfaces with TI's USB2ANY controller for PC-based configuration. Implementation requires careful decoupling of the VDD and REF pins to maintain 16-bit signal integrity in the tiny BGA footprint.
