Overview

The DEMOBGT60LTR11AIPTOBO1 is a demonstration and development kit for the BGT60LTR11AIP 60GHz Doppler radar sensor. It provides a complete platform to evaluate motion detection and direction of movement sensing without requiring complex RF design or antenna layout expertise. The board allows engineers to test the sensor in both autonomous mode for simple digital output and SPI mode for advanced data processing.

Why Choose This Part

The kit showcases the sensor's extremely low power consumption of less than 5 mW in autonomous mode and as low as 2 mW via SPI. It simplifies 60GHz microwave integration by including built-in Antennas-in-Package (AIP), eliminating the need for specialized PCB materials or RF design skills. The board supports rapid prototyping with direct digital outputs for motion and direction, alongside an SPI interface for deeper signal analysis.

Applications

Smart Lighting Control
Implementing motion-triggered lighting that can distinguish between approaching and departing movement to optimize energy savings.
Human Presence Detection
Integration into smart appliances or security systems to wake up displays or trigger alarms when a person enters a specific range.
Automated Door Openers
Providing reliable, non-contact triggering for automatic doors in commercial or residential environments.
IP Camera Wake-up
Reducing power consumption in battery-operated security cameras by using the radar sensor as a low-power trigger for the main image processor.

Getting Started

To begin evaluation, connect the board via USB to a PC and use the Infineon Toolbox or Radar GUI software to visualize detection results in real-time. For embedded integration, the sensor can be operated in autonomous mode by simply monitoring the Phase and Target pins, or interfaced with a microcontroller via the 4-wire SPI header. The demo board includes necessary level shifters and voltage regulation to support 3.3V operation.
