Overview

The DMP6185SE-13 is a P-channel enhancement mode MOSFET designed for power management and load switching applications. Packaged in a thermally efficient SOT-223-3, it provides a 60V drain-source breakdown voltage and supports a continuous drain current of up to 3A at room temperature. This device is particularly useful in high-side switching configurations where a positive gate-source voltage is not readily available.

Why Choose This Part

The SOT-223 package offers a balance between small surface-mount footprint and a power dissipation capability of 1.2W. With a 60V rating and a low threshold voltage of 3V maximum, it can be interfaced with various logic levels while providing a 150mOhm maximum on-resistance at 10V gate drive.

Applications

High-Side Load Switching
Utilized in power distribution to enable or disable power rails without the need for an additional charge pump or high-side driver.
DC-DC Converters
Acts as a switching element in buck or boost topologies requiring P-channel devices for simplified gate drive circuitry.
Motor Control
Used in H-bridge configurations for small DC motor drives to control direction and speed.
UPS Systems
Serves as a reliable switch for uninterrupted power supply circuits during transition between power sources.

Getting Started

When integrating this MOSFET, ensure the SOT-223 tab is soldered to a large copper area to manage the 1.2W thermal dissipation. Validate that the Vgs does not exceed the +/-20V limit during switching transients and use a gate resistor to suppress parasitic oscillations.
