Overview

The DRV5032FBLPGM is an ultra-low-power digital omnipolar Hall effect switch designed for battery-critical applications. It operates on a wide supply voltage range of 1.65V to 5.5V and consumes an average quiescent current of only 0.69 microamps at 3V. The device features a push-pull output and triggers on either a north or south magnetic pole, making it ideal for position sensing in power-constrained environments.

Why Choose This Part

The primary advantage of this sensor is its exceptionally low 0.69 microamp power consumption, which allows for multi-year operation from a small coin cell. Its omnipolar sensitivity simplifies mechanical assembly by responding to either magnetic pole, while the push-pull output eliminates the need for an external pull-up resistor. The through-hole TO-92-3 package also provides ease of mounting in industrial or mechanical assemblies where PCBs are not flush against the sensing area.

Applications

Intrusion Detection
Magnetic tamper detection for electricity meters and security sensors where long battery life is mandatory.
Consumer Electronics
Lid and cover sensing for laptops, tablets, and smartphones to trigger sleep or wake states.
Industrial Position Sensing
Contactless detection for valves, solenoids, and E-locks in harsh or remote environments.
Medical Devices
Activation or diagnostic sensing in portable medical equipment and IoT-connected health monitors.

Getting Started

To evaluate this sensor, provide a stable supply between 1.65V and 5.5V and bypass VCC with a 0.1 microfarad ceramic capacitor. Since it is a push-pull device, the output can be connected directly to a high-impedance GPIO pin on a microcontroller. Use a magnet with a field strength exceeding the 4.8mT trip point to trigger the output change.
