Overview

The DRV5033AJQDBZR is a digital omnipolar Hall effect switch designed to detect both north and south magnetic poles. It features a wide operating voltage range from 2.5V to 38V and is engineered for high reliability with built-in reverse supply and output short-circuit protection. The device provides a simple open-drain output that toggles when the magnetic flux density exceeds 12mT.

Why Choose This Part

The sensor offers superior temperature stability and a fast 35-microsecond power-on time, making it suitable for duty-cycled low-power systems. Its high voltage tolerance of up to 40V for load dumps and -22V reverse polarity protection eliminates the need for external regulators in many automotive and industrial applications.

Applications

Intrusion Detection
Used in smart home and industrial security systems to sense door and window closure regardless of magnet orientation.
Automotive Position Sensing
Ideal for gear shifters, seat belt buckles, and mechanical valves where robust temperature stability is required.
Industrial Pulse Counting
Reliable rotation or movement tracking in flow meters and motor tachometers using the 30mA sink capability.
Docking Station Presence
Detects when a portable device is seated in a cradle using simple magnetic proximity.

Getting Started

To implement this sensor, connect a pull-up resistor from the open-drain output to a logic level compatible with your MCU. For evaluation, use a standard SOT-23 breakout board and a small neodymium magnet to verify the +/-12mT trip points. Ensure a bypass capacitor of at least 0.1uF is placed close to the VDD pin for stable operation across the 2.5V to 38V range.
