Overview

The DRV5055A1QDBZR is a high-performance ratiometric linear Hall effect sensor designed for precise magnetic field measurements. It operates from a 3V to 5.5V supply and provides an analog output voltage that scales linearly with the detected magnetic flux density. This specific A1 variant features a sensing range of +/-21mT and includes integrated temperature compensation to maintain accuracy when used with permanent magnets.

Why Choose This Part

The device features a fast 20kHz sensing bandwidth and a low-noise output capable of 1mA drive, making it suitable for high-speed control loops. It simplifies system design by providing a Vcc/2 quiescent offset and ratiometric output, which eliminates the need for precision reference regulators in many ADC applications.

Applications

Absolute Angle Encoding
Used with a rotating magnet to detect shaft position in industrial control knobs and rotary actuators.
Current Sensing
Detects the magnetic field generated by current flowing through a conductor or busbar for non-intrusive monitoring.
Displacement Mapping
Measures linear movement in applications like brake pedals, joysticks, and fluid level float sensors.
Industrial Robotics
Provides feedback for gripper position and joint alignment in automated assembly equipment.

Getting Started

To evaluate this sensor, connect VCC to a stable 3.3V or 5V source and monitor the OUT pin using a microcontroller ADC or oscilloscope. For rapid prototyping, TI offers the DRV5055-EVM evaluation module which includes multiple sensitivity variants on a single breakaway PCB. Ensure a decoupling capacitor of at least 0.1uF is placed close to the VCC pin to minimize noise.
