ADIDS1307ZN+T&R
Overview
The DS1307ZN+T&R is a low-power, full binary-coded decimal (BCD) real-time clock and calendar chip with 56 bytes of battery-backed NV SRAM. It manages all timekeeping functions, including seconds, minutes, hours, date, month, day of the week, and year with leap-year compensation valid up to 2100. The device communicates via a two-wire, bidirectional I2C interface and features a built-in power-sense circuit that detects power failures and automatically switches to the backup supply.
Why Choose This Part
The DS1307 offers 56 bytes of nonvolatile RAM for storing user data without wear-out concerns, as it supports unlimited writes. It provides a programmable square-wave output signal and features automatic power-fail detection and switchover circuitry to maintain timekeeping integrity during main supply interruptions.

Getting Started
To implement the DS1307, connect a 32.768kHz crystal to the X1 and X2 pins and provide a 4.5V to 5.5V supply to VCC. Use a 3V lithium cell on the VBAT pin for backup power. Communication is handled via I2C; numerous open-source libraries are available for Arduino and standard embedded C environments to simplify register configuration.
