Overview

The EVQ-P2002M is a compact surface-mount tactile switch from Panasonic Industry, featuring a 4.70mm x 3.50mm footprint and a height of 2.1mm. This SPST-NO (Normally Open) switch provides a momentary Off-Mom function with a 1.0 N operating force, delivering tactile feedback in a small form factor. It is designed for low-current applications with a contact rating of 0.02A at 15VDC.

Why Choose This Part

The J-lead termination style provides robust mechanical soldering for surface-mount assembly while maintaining a small PCB footprint. Its short travel and 1.0 N actuation force offer precise, repeatable tactile response suitable for high-density interface designs. The wide operating temperature range of -40C to +85C ensures reliable performance in varied environments.

Applications

Consumer Electronics Control
User interface buttons for small portable devices, wearables, and handheld gadgets.
Industrial Control Panels
Compact reset or configuration buttons on recessed PCB control interfaces.
Home Automation Keypads
Low-profile momentary input for smart light switches and thermostat controls.
Automotive Interior Accessories
Switching for non-safety critical cabin controls like overhead lighting or mirror adjustments.

Getting Started

When designing the PCB, follow the recommended 4.7mm x 3.5mm land pattern to ensure proper J-lead solder fillet formation. Standard reflow soldering profiles apply, but care should be taken to avoid exceeding the maximum temperature to protect the internal tactile dome. No external pull-up or pull-down resistors are integrated, so these must be included in the MCU interface circuit.

Also Consider

B3FS Series Omron Electronics - Provides a higher actuation force option (1.47 N) for applications where more distinct user feedback is required.
