Overview

The G2RL-1A4-E-CF DC12 is a high-capacity, single-pole power relay from Omron designed for high-current PCB switching. It features a SPST-NO contact arrangement capable of handling up to 16A loads at 250VAC, making it suitable for heavy-duty power management in space-constrained designs. This 'E' variant indicates a high-capacity model with a Class F insulation system for higher temperature resilience.

Why Choose This Part

This relay offers a high switching capacity of 16A within a slim 12.7mm profile, saving significant PCB real estate. The sealed construction allows for automatic soldering and cleaning processes, while the 105C max operating temperature ensures reliability in demanding thermal environments.

Applications

Home Appliances
Switching resistive heating elements or motor loads in washing machines and ovens.
HVAC Controls
Controlling compressors, fans, and pump motors in climate control systems.
EV Charging Stations
Used in Level 1 or Level 2 AC chargers for power path switching.
Industrial Power Supplies
Acting as a main power disconnect or inrush current limiter bypass.

Getting Started

When designing for 16A loads, ensure PCB traces are appropriately sized with wide copper pours or increased thickness to prevent overheating. Use a flyback diode (such as a 1N4007) across the 12VDC coil terminals to protect driving circuitry from inductive voltage spikes during turn-off. Ensure the 33.3mA coil current is within the sinking or sourcing capability of your driving transistor or MOSFET.
