Overview

The G5LE-1-36 DC5 is a subminiature SPDT power relay designed for high-capacity switching in a compact PCB-mount form factor. It operates with a 5VDC coil voltage and is capable of handling switching currents up to 10A, making it suitable for mains-level control in consumer and industrial electronics. This model features flux-protection sealing and AgSnO2 contacts for reliable switching of resistive loads.

Why Choose This Part

The relay offers a high switching capacity of 10A while maintaining a compact footprint of 22.5mm by 16.5mm. With a fast 10ms operate time and 5ms release time, it provides responsive switching for time-sensitive control loops. The non-latching design ensures the system returns to a known safety state upon loss of control power.

Applications

Smart Home Appliances
Switching power for coffee makers, heaters, and kitchen appliances where high current capacity and small footprint are required.
HVAC Controls
Actuating fans and pumps within climate control systems using low-voltage logic control.
Industrial PLC Output Modules
Providing a physical isolation layer between sensitive controller logic and high-power field devices.
Power Strips and Timers
Controlling AC power delivery in smart energy management devices and programmable timers.

Getting Started

To drive this relay from a microcontroller, use a NPN transistor or N-channel MOSFET as a low-side switch to handle the 72mA coil current. Always include a flyback diode (such as a 1N4007) across the coil terminals to protect the driving circuitry from inductive voltage spikes during turn-off. Ensure PCB traces for the contact pins are sized appropriately for the 10A load to prevent excessive heating.
