Overview

The INA213BIDCKT is a voltage-output, current-shunt monitor designed for high-side or low-side current sensing. This zero-drift amplifier can sense drops across shunts at common-mode voltages from -0.3V to 26V, independent of the supply voltage. Its low quiescent current of 100uA and high gain accuracy make it suitable for power management in portable and industrial systems.

Why Choose This Part

The zero-drift architecture ensures high accuracy with a 0.02 percent gain error and minimal offset over the full -40C to 125C temperature range. Its extremely low 100uA quiescent current minimizes power overhead in battery-operated devices, while the SC-70 package saves significant PCB real estate compared to standard SOT-23 options.

Applications

Battery Management
Monitoring charge and discharge cycles in notebook computers and mobile phones.
Power Supply Monitoring
Real-time current measurement in telecom equipment and server power distribution units.
Overcurrent Protection
Providing fast feedback to microcontrollers for safety shut-off in motor control or lighting circuits.

Getting Started

To evaluate this part, use a shunt resistor sized for your maximum expected current to ensure the output remains within your ADC range. Connect the IN+ and IN- pins across the shunt and provide a supply between 2.7V and 26V. TI offers the INA213EVM evaluation module for rapid prototyping and performance verification.

Also Consider

INA210 TITexas Instruments - Offers a higher gain of 200V/V compared to the INA213 for applications requiring smaller shunt resistors.
