IR2104

Infineon
Half-bridge gate driver IC used when designers prefer discrete MOSFETs with a dedicated high/low-side driver.
NRND4,539 in stock

Overview

The IR2104 is a high-voltage, high-speed power MOSFET and IGBT driver with independent high- and low-side referenced output channels. Designed for half-bridge applications, it features a floating channel capable of operating up to +600V with a bootstrap power supply. The IC includes integrated cross-conduction prevention logic and internally set deadtime to ensure power stage reliability.

Why Choose This Part

It offers high-voltage capability up to 600V with excellent dV/dt immunity and negative transient tolerance. The device simplifies design by including internal deadtime and cross-conduction logic, while remaining compatible with 3.3V, 5V, and 15V logic levels.

Applications

Motor Drive Systems
Driving discrete MOSFETs or IGBTs in DC motor control and small stepper motor drives.
Half-Bridge Inverters
Standard building block for power conversion in renewable energy systems and industrial power supplies.
DC-to-DC Converters
Efficient switching control for high-voltage buck or boost converters where high-side drive is required.
Class D Audio Amplifiers
Utilized as the gate driver stage for high-power switching audio output stages.

Getting Started

When prototyping, ensure a low-ESR bootstrap capacitor is placed close to the VB and VS pins to provide sufficient gate charge. Use the shutdown (SD) pin to disable both channels during fault conditions or system initialization. For breadboard testing, the PDIP-8 package allows for easy integration, but keep power loops short to minimize inductive ringing.
