Overview

The IR2184STRPBF is a high-voltage, high-speed power MOSFET and IGBT driver with independent high and low side referenced output channels. Designed for bootstrap operation, it supports floating channels up to +600V with 1.4A source and 1.8A sink current capabilities, making it ideal for half-bridge and full-bridge topologies.

Why Choose This Part

This driver features matched propagation delays for both channels to prevent shoot-through and is fully operational up to +600V. It offers high immunity to dV/dt noise and negative transient voltages, while undervoltage lockout (UVLO) on both channels ensures the power stage is protected during power-up or brownout conditions.

Applications

DC Motor Drives
Efficiently drives MOSFET or IGBT bridges for brushed and brushless DC motor control in industrial tools.
Half-Bridge Converters
Used in switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and induction heating applications requiring high-voltage isolation.
Class D Audio Amplifiers
Provides the high-speed switching and matched propagation delays necessary for high-fidelity power stages.
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
Manages power MOSFETs in inverter stages to convert DC battery power to AC output.

Getting Started

To implement this part, ensure a high-quality ceramic bootstrap capacitor is placed close to the VB and VS pins to maintain the floating supply. Evaluate performance using an IR2184-based evaluation board or prototype on a PCB with a solid ground plane to manage the 1.4A/1.8A gate drive currents. Refer to Infineon application note AN-978 for detailed bootstrap component selection and layout guidelines.
