Overview

The ISO1410BDWR is a galvanically isolated half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver designed for robust industrial communication. It features a 500kbps data rate optimized for low EMI and provides high common-mode transient immunity of 100kV/us to ensure reliable data transmission in noisy environments. The device supports a wide supply range from 1.71V to 5.5V on the logic side, making it compatible with modern low-voltage microcontrollers.

Why Choose This Part

This transceiver offers a high degree of integration by combining isolation and RS-485 signaling in a 16-SOIC package, reducing PCB footprint. It supports up to 256 nodes on a single bus via 1/8 unit load circuitry and includes failsafe features for open, short, and idle bus conditions. The extended operating temperature range of -40C to 125C ensures stability in harsh thermal environments.

Applications

Grid Infrastructure
Used in solar inverters, motor drives, and energy storage systems where high-voltage isolation is required between the bus and the controller.
PROFIBUS Networks
Compatible with PROFIBUS standards when used with a 5V bus-side supply for industrial automation signaling.
Factory Automation
Ideal for RS-485 fieldbus networks in environments with significant electrical noise and ground potential differences.
HVAC Systems
Provides reliable communication between building controllers and remote sensors or actuators across long cable runs.

Getting Started

To evaluate this component, use the ISO1410EVM evaluation module which allows for testing of isolation performance and signal integrity. Ensure that high-frequency decoupling capacitors (0.1uF) are placed as close as possible to the VCC1 and VCC2 pins. For PROFIBUS applications, ensure the bus-side supply (VCC2) is set to 5V to meet standardized signal levels.
