Overview

The IWR1642BOOST is an evaluation module for the IWR1642 integrated single-chip mmWave sensor, which combines a frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) transceiver with an Arm R4F core and a C67x DSP. Operating in the 76GHz to 81GHz range, this board includes onboard antennas and provides a complete radar processing chain for detecting object range, velocity, and angle.

Why Choose This Part

This module features a high-density 60-pin connector for exporting raw ADC data over LVDS, enabling advanced algorithm development. The integration of an Arm R4F and C67x DSP allows for sophisticated signal processing and application logic to reside on a single chip, while the onboard emulation simplifies the debugging process without external hardware.

Applications

Industrial Liquid Level Sensing
High-accuracy measurement of tank levels in industrial environments using radar precision.
Robotic Ground Plane Detection
Providing obstacle detection and terrain mapping for autonomous mobile robots.
Building Automation
Presence detection and person counting for smart HVAC and lighting control systems.
Gesture Recognition
Implementing non-contact human-machine interfaces using fine-motion radar tracking.

Getting Started

Begin by downloading the mmWave SDK and TI's UniFlash tool to program the onboard IWR1642 device via the micro-USB port. Utilize the mmWave Demo Visualizer web tool to instantly see point-cloud data and configure radar chirps. For raw data capture, the board can be interfaced with the DCA1000EVM data capture card via the 60-pin HD connector.
