KITFS85FRDMEVM
Overview
The KITFS85FRDMEVM is an evaluation board designed to demonstrate the FS84 and FS85 series of functional safety System Basis Chips (SBCs). It features an integrated Freedom KL25Z microcontroller to facilitate communication between the PC-based graphical user interface and the target PMIC. The hardware provides a complete environment for validating 12 V automotive power management solutions with integrated safety monitoring.
Why Choose This Part
The kit includes a comprehensive GUI that allows for real-time register access and configuration of safety features without custom firmware. It supports the FS84/FS85 series flexible power-up sequencing and includes hardware access to monitoring signals, making it easier to meet stringent automotive functional safety requirements.

Getting Started
Connect the board to a PC via the included USB cable and use the NXP FlexGUI software to interact with the FS8500 or FS8400 ICs. The on-board FRDM-KL25Z acts as an I2C or SPI bridge, allowing engineers to configure OTP settings and test safety reaction times immediately. Documentation provides a step-by-step guide for setting up the 12 V supply and monitoring the regulated outputs.
