Overview

The LAN9500A-ABZJ is a high-performance, small-form-factor USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet controller designed for embedded systems requiring high-speed network connectivity. It integrates a 10/100 Ethernet MAC, a PHY with HP Auto-MDIX support, and a USB 2.0 device controller into a single 56-pin QFN package. The device is optimized for low power consumption, featuring multiple suspend modes and an integrated 1.2V regulator to simplify power rail management.

Why Choose This Part

This controller offers a highly integrated solution that reduces BOM count by including the PHY and oscillator circuitry on-chip. It supports advanced features like NetDetach for reduced power consumption when the Ethernet cable is unplugged and reaches throughput speeds up to 69mA in full-duplex operation. The 11 GPIO pins provide additional flexibility for system control without requiring external expanders.

Applications

Single Board Computer Networking
Adding reliable 10/100 Ethernet ports to compact SBCs or SOMs that only provide USB host interfaces.
Industrial USB-to-Ethernet Dongles
Creating bus-powered networking adapters for field service tools and industrial diagnostic equipment.
Printers and POS Terminals
Enabling Ethernet connectivity in legacy hardware platforms by utilizing available USB ports.
Thin Clients and Set-Top Boxes
Providing high-speed wired networking in consumer electronics where PCB space is limited.
