Overview

The LA 55-P is a closed-loop current transducer that utilizes the Hall effect to provide accurate, galvanic isolation between the primary circuit and the secondary circuit. It is designed for electronic measurement of currents including DC, AC, pulsed, and mixed waveforms with a 50A nominal rating and a measurement range up to 70A. The device features a current output with a 1:1000 conversion ratio and a fast response time of 1us.

Why Choose This Part

The closed-loop architecture ensures excellent linearity of 0.15 percent and a wide frequency bandwidth from DC up to 200kHz. It offers high immunity to external interference and features no insertion losses in the measured circuit. The sensor is housed in a UL 94-V0 recognized insulating plastic case, providing high reliability for industrial environments.

Applications

AC Variable Speed Drives
Used in servo motor drives and frequency converters for precise phase current sensing and motor control loops.
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
Provides high-speed current monitoring for inverter protection and battery management in backup power systems.
Static Converters for DC Motors
Enables closed-loop feedback for DC motor drive systems requiring high linearity and low temperature drift.
Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
Ideal for high-frequency current monitoring in power conversion stages where zero insertion loss is required.

Getting Started

Integration requires a bipolar power supply between +/-12V and +/-15V and a secondary burden resistor (Rm) to convert the current output into a measurable voltage. For PCB layout, ensure the three pins (positive supply, negative supply, and output) are placed with adequate creepage distances according to your isolation requirements. Calibration is typically not required due to the factory-defined 1:1000 turns ratio.
