Overview

The LCA710S is a single-pole, normally open (1 Form A) solid state relay that utilizes optically coupled MOSFET technology to provide 3750Vrms of input-to-output isolation. Designed to handle load currents up to 1A at 60V, it offers a high-performance alternative to electromechanical relays in a compact 6-pin surface mount package. Its OptMOS architecture ensures arc-free switching without the need for snubber circuits or EMI/RFI shielding.

Why Choose This Part

The LCA710S features a very low on-resistance of 0.5 Ohms, which minimizes power dissipation when switching 1A loads. It requires minimal drive power from the input LED (1.2VDC nominal), allowing it to be controlled directly by low-power microcontrollers without external buffers.

Applications

Industrial Controls
Switching solenoids, valves, and actuators where high reliability and bounce-free operation are required.
Instrumentation
Multiplexing and data acquisition systems that benefit from low on-resistance and high isolation.
Telecommunications
Used for hook switch and ringing circuits in telecom equipment due to its small footprint and low drive current.
Security Systems
Silent switching for alarm sensors and control panels where mechanical relay noise is undesirable.

Getting Started

To drive the input side, calculate a current-limiting resistor for the internal LED based on your logic level and the 1.2VDC forward voltage drop. Ensure the output load does not exceed the 60V peak rating, and follow the recommended PCB footprint for 6-pin gull-wing SMD packages to ensure proper thermal dissipation at the 1A current limit.
