Overview

The LDL112PV12R is a high-current, low-dropout linear regulator capable of delivering up to 1.2A from an input voltage range of 1.6V to 5.5V. Designed for high efficiency in battery-powered applications, it features a very low quiescent current of 250uA and a shutdown mode that reduces consumption to 0.1uA.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator offers a strong balance of high current capability and integrated protection, including reverse current and thermal shutdown. Its 57dB PSRR at 1kHz makes it suitable for noise-sensitive digital circuits, while the 2 percent output accuracy ensures reliable voltage regulation across the full temperature range of -40 to 125 degrees Celsius.

Applications

Battery-Powered Systems
Extends battery life in portable electronics due to its extremely low shutdown current and low dropout voltage.
Low Voltage Point-of-Load
Provides a stable 1.2V rail for digital cores, FPGAs, and DSPs from a standard 1.8V or 3.3V supply.
USB-Powered Devices
Ideal for peripherals requiring high current startup or peak loads directly from a 5V USB bus.
Consumer Electronics
Used in tablets, smart home hubs, and storage devices where space-saving DFN packaging and thermal protection are required.

Getting Started

When designing the PCB layout, place a 4.7uF ceramic capacitor close to the input and output pins to ensure stability and improve transient response. The DFN6 (3x3) package includes an exposed pad that must be soldered to a copper plane to manage thermal dissipation when operating near the 1.2A limit.
