Overview

The LM2678T-ADJ/NOPB is a monolithic high-efficiency step-down switching regulator capable of driving up to 5A loads with excellent line and load regulation. Operating at a fixed switching frequency of 260kHz, this buck converter minimizes the size of external components while maintaining high efficiency. The device features an adjustable output voltage range starting from 1.2V and includes a low-power standby mode with typically 50uA current consumption.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator offers high integration by including a low ON-resistance DMOS power switch on-chip, reaching efficiencies often exceeding 90 percent. Its TO-220-7 package provides excellent thermal management for high-current applications, while the built-in thermal shutdown and current limiting provide robust fault protection.

Applications

High Current Industrial Supplies
Providing stable 5A rails for industrial controllers and logic boards from unregulated DC inputs.
Battery Powered Systems
Efficient voltage step-down for high-capacity battery packs where heat dissipation and battery life are critical.
Embedded Computing Power
Supplying power to SBCs and FPGAs that require high current delivery at low voltages.

Getting Started

Design requires selecting an inductor, an output capacitor, and a catch diode rated for at least 5A. Use the feedback pin connected to a resistor divider to set the desired output voltage between 1.2V and 37V. Ensure the ON/OFF pin is pulled low or tied to ground for normal operation, or pulled high to enter the 50uA standby mode.
