Overview

The LMT87QDCKRQ1 is an AEC-Q100 qualified, analog output temperature sensor designed for automotive and industrial applications. It provides a linear output voltage that is inversely proportional to temperature with a sensitivity of 13.6mV/degree Celsius. Operating across a wide range of -50C to 150C, it features a very low supply current of 5.4 microamps to minimize self-heating.

Why Choose This Part

The sensor features a push-pull output with 50-microamp drive capability, allowing it to interface directly with ADC inputs without an additional buffer. Its extremely low 5.4-microamp typical operating current prevents significant self-heating errors while operating over the full automotive temperature range.

Applications

Automotive Powertrain
Monitoring temperature in engine control units and transmission systems where AEC-Q100 reliability is required.
Infotainment and Cluster
Thermal management for vehicle displays and dashboard electronics to ensure longevity and performance.
Industrial Safety Systems
Functionally safety-capable design suitable for smoke and heat detectors requiring low power consumption.

Getting Started

To use the LMT87QDCKRQ1, connect VDD to a supply between 2.7V and 5.5V and route the analog output directly to an MCU ADC pin. Ensure a 0.1 microfarad bypass capacitor is placed close to the VDD pin for noise rejection. The transfer function follows a predictable linear curve which can be implemented in firmware using a simple linear equation or lookup table.
